Marco è professore associato di "Sistemi di Elaborazione delle informazioni". Ha una laurea in Matematica (1986, Università "La Sapienza") e un Dottorato in Informatica (1992, medesima università).
Insegna tecniche della programmazione e linguaggi di programmazione per il web.
La sua piu` recente attivita` di ricerca riguarda Technology Enhanced Learning; in particolare in Student and Teacher Modeling, Adaptive e-learning, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence Techniques to Select and Personalize Learning Content, Social and Collaborative Learning, Game Based Learning, Automated and Peer Assessment.
