Gianluca Cima
Starting from 05/04/2023, I am an Assistant Professor (RTD-A) at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome.
From February 2021 to March 2023, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at CNRS, working at LaBRI - a computer science research lab located on the Talence campus of the University of Bordeaux.
I obtained a PhD in Engineering in Computer Science in December 2020 from Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of Prof. Maurizio Lenzerini. During my PhD, I have been a six months visiting PhD student at University of Oxford.

I am currently a Guest Editor of the Special Issue "Knowledge Representation and Ontology-Based Data Management" of the journal Information.
My research interests include (but are not limited to):
- Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
- Description Logics and Ontologies
- Database Theory
- Information Integration and Data Exchange
- Semantic Web
My PhD thesis, "Abstraction in Ontology-based Data Management", has been identified as being of outstanding quality during the evaluation process of the 2020 EurAI Doctoral Dissertation Award. In light of this, my PhD thesis has been published in the subseries Dissertations in Artificial Intelligence of the Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications (FAIA) book series.
